Sharp rise in elephant poaching in Kenya linked to Chinese workers

A report by four international conservation agencies links sharp rise in elephant poaching in Kenya to influx of Chinese workers (see also the video below here).

Since China started investing in mega-construction projects in Kenya, the number of its citizens in the country has gone up significantly, and so has been the cases of poaching and ivory smuggling.

However, a spokesman for the Chinese embassy in Nairobi, Mr Shifan Wu, said the findings of the international conversation agencies linking Asians or Chinese to poaching were not true. He blames corruption.
Yeh right…We forgot Chinese ivory buyers don’t know anything about corruption…

In the meantime, KWS official figures are 137 elephants & 24 rhinos killed in the last seven months (mostly in the Tsavo area).
