Seizure of 259 elephant tusks in Dubai

Dubai customs authorities have announced the seizure of 259 elephant tusks, from Kenya, disguised as ‘furniture’
It is the biggest bust yet of contraband ivory in the UAE.

So far this year, at least 5 tonnes of ivory have been reported seized – 1 tonne seized in Hong Kong, exported from Mombasa; 2 tonnes seized in Mombasa; and a further 1,8 tonnes seized in Singapore. These seizures all took place during January 2013.

We’re loosing the African elephants. One of the most intelligent and emotional creatures on Earth is vanishing because of the addiction to ivory in China.
