Vatican responds to National Geographic about the religious use of ivory.
It’s a very long and articulated answer from the director of the Vatican press office who is also committing to a few communication activities through “some Vatican organizations”.

We praise the effort and we hope the Vatican will do now what it preaches, especially regarding the ivory traffic in the Philippines.

Pity for the phrase “regarding animals, the position of the Catholic thought has always been that, even if these certainly do not have the same level of dignity and thus of rights as human beings…”
We think it’s an obsolete point of view and the whole approach to living creatures should be more universal and inclusive.

But it’s a good first step.
